Part 1 · Warm-up
What do you remember?
Last time you gave the AI roles and voices. Let's warm up!
Part 2 · Learn it
One big prompt vs. a chain of small ones
Think about building a big LEGO set. The instructions don't say "build the castle." They split it into small steps: bag 1, then bag 2, then bag 3. You check each step before moving on. If you skip ahead, the tower ends up wobbly!
Big AI jobs work the same way. If you ask for everything at once ("Plan my whole party: invitations, games, food, decorations and a budget!"), the answer gets long and messy, and mistakes hide inside it.
Instead, use a prompt chain: a set of small prompts, one after another. Each answer feeds into the next prompt. And between steps, you check the answer before you build on it.
1
Plan first
Split the big job into small steps before you start.
2
One step at a time
Each prompt does one small part of the job.
3
Check each step
Make sure it's right before you build on it.
4
Show the steps
Ask: "Explain your steps" so you can check them.
Watch chains work
EXAMPLE 1A poster in four steps
"Give me 3 ideas for a poster about bees. I'm 11."
"I'll do idea 2, why bees matter for food. Give me 5 key facts, one sentence each."
✅ Check: look up two of the facts in a library book or a trusted website.
"Using these 5 facts, suggest a layout for an A3 poster: where the title, facts and pictures go."
"Give me 3 catchy titles for this poster."
Each step used the answer before it. And the check in step 2 stops a wrong fact from ending up on your poster.
EXAMPLE 2Catching a mistake by checking the steps
YouSam buys 3 notebooks for 4 coins each and a pen for 2 coins. He pays with 20 coins. How much change does he get? Explain your steps.
AIYou're right, I made a mistake! 12 + 2 = 14. So the change is 20 − 14 = 6 coins.
Because the AI showed its steps, the mistake was easy to spot. AI can make mistakes even with simple sums, so always check!
EXAMPLE 3Planning a website (a sneak peek at Code Builders!)
"I want to make a small website about something I love: skateboarding. Suggest 4 pages it could have."
"For each of those 4 pages, list the sections it should have."
"For the Home page, what should each section say? Give me short notes, not the full text. I'll write it myself."
"Suggest 2 color schemes and a fun name for the site."
By the end you have a full plan: pages, sections, notes, colors and a name. That's exactly what you need before building a real website.
Byte says
Two great questions to ask during a chain: "Explain your steps" and "How could I check this?" The AI might sound very sure even when it's wrong, so checking is your superpower.
Part 3 · Spot it
Put the Chain in Order
Each big job below has been split into 4 prompts, but they got jumbled up! Use the arrows to put them in the best order. Think: which answer does the next step need?

Part 4 · Build it
Chain Builder
Pick a big job. Then split it into 4 small prompts, one for each step. Try to make each step use the answer from the step before. Fill in at least 3 steps, then compare with Byte's chain.

Chain Missions
Time to use your own chatbot. Missions get harder as you go. Bronze is the one to do today. Silver and Gold are extra challenges for when you want more.

Talk Planner
Plan a short talk about a hobby or something you love, in 3 steps.
Ask for a simple outline with 3 parts.
For each part, ask for 2 key points to mention.
Ask for 3 ideas for a strong opening line. Then write the talk yourself, using your plan.

Check Every Step
Be the checker!
Make up a word problem with a few steps, like the notebook one above.
Ask the AI to solve it and "explain your steps."
Check every step yourself, by hand or with a calculator. Did you catch any mistakes?
★★★ GoldExtra challenge
Plan Your Website
Plan a real website you'll build in Code Builders, the next track!
Pick something you love: a hobby, a game, a sport, an animal…
Use a 4-step chain like Example 3: pages, then sections, then short notes, then colors and a name.
Write your plan in the box below. It's saved here so you can use it later.

Part 6 · Prompt Playbook
Add a page to your Playbook
Save your best prompt chain. Next time you have a big job, you can reuse the same steps.

Recap
What you just learned
✓A big job in one prompt often gives a long, messy answer where mistakes can hide.
✓A prompt chain splits the job into small prompts. Each answer feeds the next one.
✓Check each step before you build on it, especially facts and numbers.
✓Ask "Explain your steps" and "How could I check this?" The AI can sound sure and still be wrong.
✓Planning first, then building, is how big projects (like websites!) get done.
Part 7 · Show what you know
